On the afternoon of December 12, 2024, Angel Hundreds of People's Association will host a salon event themed "Opportunities and Development in Canada". The purpose of this event is to delve into how Chinese enterprises can leverage policy advantages, seize the vast potential of the Canadian market, successfully list on the Toronto Stock Exchange, and gain insights into Canada’s entrepreneurial environment and startup visa policies. The event will feature a keynote presentation by Ms. Lillian Liu, Founder and CEO of Bizfield Group Canada.
As competition in the Chinese domestic market intensifies, enterprises are experiencing increasing pressure. To seek new growth opportunities, many Chinese enterprises have begun to look overseas.
At the beginning of the event, Mr. Jun Liu, CEO of Bizfield (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., shared insights regarding the policy support provided by relevant national and regional government departments for enterprises expanding overseas and seeking public listings abroad. He mentioned that in recent years, as the scale of Chinese enterprises expanding internationally has grown, relevant departments have also increased their support. This includes offering policy guidance, financial assistance, tax incentives, and other measures to create a more favorable environment for enterprises to go global.
Ms. Lillian Liu, Founder and CEO of Bizfield Group Canada, delivered an engaging presentation as the keynote speaker. She pointed out that in recent years, the scale of Chinese enterprises expanding overseas has continued to grow. Canada, with its developed economic system and open market environment, is becoming an important destination for Chinese enterprises to expand globally, particularly in sectors such as energy, high technology, and consumer goods.
Ms. Liu explained the advantages of the Canadian market in detail. She noted that although Canada’s population is only about 40 million, the urbanization rate has reached 80%, and per capita income is high. Technological penetration is strong, and consumers have a high acceptance of technological innovation, indicating immense market potential. She also emphasized that Canada is rich in energy and natural resources, which provides broad opportunities for Chinese enterprises focused on energy and resources. Furthermore, Canada’s medical and healthcare sectors are particularly noteworthy. As the aging population grows, demand in this market continues to rise.
Opportunities for Going Global
When discussing how Chinese enterprises can successfully list in Canada, Ms. Liu highlighted that the Toronto Stock Exchange is a choice worth considering. She emphasized that the Toronto Stock Exchange holds no bias against companies from Chinese backgrounds. As long as a company meets the listing requirements, it has the opportunity to list and obtain financing. In comparison to NASDAQ, the listing costs on the Toronto Stock Exchange are lower. Additionally, the Canadian government offers a variety of supportive policies for startups, such as R&D tax credits and innovation funds, which help lower operating costs and enhance the innovation capabilities of enterprises.
Ms. Liu offered her insights into how Chinese enterprises can successfully start businesses in Canada and list on the Toronto Stock Exchange. She believes that enterprises must first gain an in-depth understanding of the Canadian market and culture to determine the appropriate market positioning. Next, they need to leverage Canada’s technological and innovation strengths to enhance their R&D capabilities and improve product quality. Finally, enterprises should actively take advantage of Canada’s supportive policies and entrepreneurial resources to provide more momentum for their development.
Ms. Liu also shared examples of successful cases of Chinese enterprises expanding overseas. She emphasized that to succeed in the Canadian market, enterprises must fully understand the local market environment and relevant policies and regulations. At the same time, enterprises need to focus on product localization and the international promotion of their brands.
When discussing Canada’s entrepreneurial visa policies, Ms. Liu stated that Canada’s visa policies provide significant convenience for entrepreneurs. These policies not only address identity-related concerns but also provide healthcare, education, and other benefits for their families, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on their businesses overseas with greater peace of mind.
During the event, participants actively raised questions and engaged in discussions, sharing their thoughts and experiences. There was a general consensus that, in the face of fierce competition in the Chinese domestic market, expanding overseas is of great strategic importance. To remain competitive amid the tides of globalization, enterprises must continuously innovate and expand into international markets. Canada undoubtedly represents an important market worth attention and long-term investment.
The "Opportunities and Development in Canada" salon event hosted by the Angel Hundreds of People's Associationprovided participants with a valuable platform for exchange and access to critical information.
